2008 has been a successful year
Of
23 race starts – we have won 22
races
and set
3 lap records
(Formula Ford). Two race wins and one lap
record set by the Mechanic that wanted to have a go.
Formula-1
– Google says it is the most powerful F1
car ever – the 86 Benetton, interesting machine and was on pole
at it’s first race by over two seconds.
We have done a lot of
work on this car to get it racing again.
V8
– The only handicap driver in a super car.
We have seen some great promise from the Sieders brothers and is
considered one of
the fastest privateer run teams.
Shock development
– have spent many long hours on the shock dyno this year making
some good progress - have developed some special bits which have
greatly contributed to this years impressive results.
Most
teams have at least two engineers per car – currently I look
after eight cars – one weekend I had four cars running - still
managed to win and have the quickest AU ever around that
circuit.
Motorsport School
– invited back to have a gratifying experience teaching the data
logging/computers in motor sport section at the Wondonga Tafe
motorsport program.
New high school program
– we are piloting a new program to get young students interested
in math and science through Race Car Engineering.
Many young
people have a passion for motor racing but not for math and
science – we plan to show them through practical examples how
critical these subjects are in this field as well as many others
that they would not have thought of.
Many careers are much more technical now then most imagine and
having a good base understanding is critical for their futures.
Thank you
to all the teams and drivers that I have had the pleasure to
work with this year - may next year be even better.
